Your business is an airplane

There you are, peacefully piloting a 747 at 30,000 ft.?

Suddenly, your right engine goes out. What do you do??

I have no idea because I’m not a pilot. ???But you’re sure as heck not worried about reading this newsletter.

More than likely, you have a backup plan when things get shaky within your business, and you’re not just winging it (pun intended).?

More than likely, you know where all the parts of the plane are but you might not always put the oil into each part at the same time.

The most difficult thing about operating a business, or a particular function in your business, is knowing how to keep all of the parts working smoothly together. Often that begs questions like: What do we work on next? What should we focus on today to produce real results tomorrow?

I love Donald Miller’s airplane analogy from Business Made Simple for this very reason.?

Think of your business like a plane…?

The Cockpit = Leadership?

Wings = Products & Services?

Right Engine = Marketing?

Left Engine = Sales?

Fuel Tanks = Cash Flow?

Body = Overhead?

Keeping each part of the plane running with the highest efficiency and balance is the key to flying the friendly skies.?
