????Welcome to your bi-weekly jolt of well-brewed #inspiration. In serving #42 of 'BK Morning Brew’ let’s discuss your brand. Thank you for subscribing, liking, sharing and commenting! #LetsBrewThis!??
Your job is a role. Your brand is a promise.
Jobs come and go.
Jobs sit on resumes and LinkedIn profiles, neatly arranged in chronological order. They tell people what you’ve done, but not who you are.
Your brand?
That’s the story that can’t be contained in a title or a bullet point. It’s the thread that runs through every role you’ve held, every project you’ve touched, and every conversation where someone walked away thinking, “I want to work with them again.”
Your brand isn’t just about your skills.
It’s about your presence. How do you show up? What do people say about you when you’re not in the room?
Your job is just a stage where your brand performs, but your brand lives in the applause—or the silence—after the curtain falls.
Think about your LinkedIn headline.
Is it just your current job title? “Manager.” “Specialist.” “Analyst.” Does that spark curiosity or connection? Or is it just… a label? A placeholder?
Now think about this: What if your headline didn’t box you in? What if it opened a door instead?
Instead of “Marketing Director,” it could say, “Telling stories that move people to action.”
Instead of “Engineer,” it might say, “Designing solutions for a more connected world.”
Simple. Human. True.
People don’t remember titles; they remember the way you make them feel. The way you inspire confidence or curiosity. The way you show up—not just for the job, but for the team, the mission, and the moment.
That’s your brand!
Your job belongs in the “Experience” section.
Let it live there, lined up neatly with dates and responsibilities.
But your brand?
That belongs in your headline, your summary, your voice. Let it speak louder than the roles you’ve held.

Because when someone glances at your profile or hears your name, they’re not just asking, “What do they do?” They’re wondering, “Who are they?” And that’s the question your brand should answer.
Your job is temporary. Your brand is timeless.
Choose wisely.??
???BK Biweekly Quote(s):? “Brand yourself for the career you want, not the job you have.” — Dan Schawbel
“Your brand is bigger than your job. Your job is what you do; your brand is who you are. Let your LinkedIn headline reflect your essence, not your role. Save your job titles for the ‘Position’ section—where they belong.”—? Brian L. Keith, #ThinkBigger!
??BK Tiny Tip:? Think of your LinkedIn headline as a first impression at a party—make it inviting, memorable, and reflective of who you are, not just what you do.
??BK Mental Model:? Your job is the stage—it sets the scene, provides the backdrop, and frames the context. But your brand is the spotlight—it directs attention, highlights your unique essence, and leaves an impression long after the performance ends. Focus on refining the light you cast, not just the roles you play, because the spotlight defines how others truly see you.
??BK Mind-blowing Fact:? Did you know that 92% of people trust recommendations from individuals over companies?? This highlights the power of personal branding: your individual reputation can significantly influence others’ perceptions and decisions, often more than corporate messaging.
??BK Journaling Prompt:? If your job title disappeared tomorrow, what would remain of your professional identity? Write about the qualities, values, and strengths that define who you are beyond the work you do. How can you let these shine more brightly in the way you present yourself to the world?
???BK Call-to-Action: Take a moment today to rewrite your LinkedIn headline. Strip away your job title and focus on crafting a statement that reflects your essence—your unique value, your mission, and the impact you aim to create. Share it proudly and let it be the start of a conversation about who you truly are.
