The Thirst Is Real
Welcome to the first leg of the wellness challenge. This month we are focusing on increasing our water intake. As we all know, water is essential for life. However, it seems like everyone forgets its impact on health, wellness, and performance.
Hydration is often taken for granted even when we know how important water is to our health. In preparation of this month’s challenge, let’s talk about the benefits of staying hydrated, how water interacts with our bodies, the different types of water available, and some easy ways you can increase your water intake.
Why Water Deserves a Trophy
Not only does water help us achieve our wellness goals, staying hydrated will keep you from turning into a human raisin. If your body was a sports team, water is the MVP in nearly every function of your body. Think of it as the oil that keeps your engine running. Proper hydration keeps you energized, focused, and ready to tackle whatever life throws your way.
Here’s what else water does behind the scenes:
Have you ever felt sluggish or grumpy, only to realize you hadn’t had water in hours? Think of water like fuel for a happy mood and steady energy.
H2-Oh Yeah! What Water Does in Your Body
Water doesn’t just sit around, it’s got places to be and body parts to see! Once you drink it, water is absorbed and starts working its magic. Especially if you’re active, staying hydrated can make or break your workout. Want to last longer, push harder, and bounce back faster? Drink up!
Think about your post-workout routine. Have you noticed a difference in muscle recovery when you’re hydrated?

4 个月I actually was headed to the ER and I was letting my mom know so that someone knew where I was. She asked a simple question: when was the last time you had water? I realized I hadn’t drank any since I couldn’t remember. That’s not like me, but, I turned around, drank a bunch of water and took a nap. Come to find out what I needed was water! And not plastic water (let’s go back to eco), but clean filtered water. Fantastic topic!! ????
