I wanted to share a story with you today about something that happened to me over 15 years ago in a corporate office in Leeds.?
It's a story that I often reflect on, as at the time, I had no idea what was going on with my body, and I felt like I had no one who could help me either.??
I had been back and forth to the doctors, but they didn’t know why I was feeling the way I did, and as I was generally healthy in their eyes, they didn’t investigate it further.?
You see, on this pretty unremarkable day in the office, I was at work when, out of nowhere, I started feeling really dizzy. Becoming dizzy wasn’t new to me, as I had been experiencing dizziness on and off for months, but this time it felt much worse as my hearring and vision began to blur as well.
It got so bad that I almost fainted. I had to grab onto my desk just to stay on my feet. Luckily, a work colleague (who later became my husband) helped me to the stairwell, where I was able to take some time to recuperate.?
Given I was experiencing many strange symptoms at the time, and I knew after being diagnosed with several autoimmune diseases already I was generally that way inclined, I didn’t look into it further.?
However, now I realise that my blood sugar was out of balance. And when I nearly fainted it was likely due to a dangerous drop in blood sugar.
I didn't know much about it at the time, but when I started working on my health recovery, it was the first thing that I worked on, and I realised a lot of the symptoms that I put down to inflammation and having autoimmune disease, were likely triggered by dysregulated blood sugar.
Here are a few other ways that blood sugar dysregulation used to affect me:

As I began to understand more about the effects of blood sugar imbalance on my body and mind, the more I realised that I needed to sort this out as a first step in my recovery. And that is exactly what I did.?
It gave me the stability and energy to take the next steps in my recovery, and with this solid foundation, I went from strength to strength.?
