To beat unemployment, you've got to overcome employer risks that you were let go for the wrong reason.
The wrong reasons are poor performance or behavior problems - It's understandable that employers want to avoid hiring someone who risks being a problem in their operation.
But even if you were let go for the right reason (location closure, etc.) you've got to be able to show employers that you're not a risk.
Telling an employer that you were let go due to a layoff or RIF isn't enough. So when you state on your resume or cover letter that you were laid off (trying to tell employers "It wasn't my fault"), it's not enough to offset risk - Employers know that layoffs are also used to let underperformers go.
To mitigate employer risks about your unemployment reasons, you've got to show them. How? Overwhelming value.
You've got to show employers through your resume and interview that you provided so much value to your past employers, that they must have been nuts to let you go. Overwhelming your target company with value shows the huge impact that you made, demonstrating that you were a top performer, not at the bottom.
Want to learn other ways to beat unemployment by changes to your resume and job search strategy?
I've been teaching unemployed job seekers to make the right major changes to their resumes and job search strategies for over 10 years, with an incredible track record of helping the unemployed turnaround their job searches.
That's because I'm both a career coach and top national recruiter, so I teach job search and resume strategies based on actual employer hiring process - what's being used now. I can teach you how to make your resume/job search strategy sync with employer hiring processes, and how to recognize the bad advice that's keeping you unemployed.
I'll teach you all of this during my next Resume Revolution - Beating Unemployment webinar.
(BTW, I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 15 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)
Let me show you how to change your job search and resume, so you can find a great job in 2019, even if you're in career transition or age 40+.
