I always liked the idea of investing.

Just the concept of making my savings work for me and grow over time.

… without (or rather, in addition to) working days in and days out.

But for the longest time, I really didn’t like anything related to the stock market.

I thought investing this way was a risky gamble. A place where “guys” enjoyed making quick buying and selling decisions.

It looked like a sure way to lose big time.

(and a large part of this ‘feeling’ was actually my parents’ voice playing in my head, without me realizing it… - but that’s another topic)

And I guess that’s one reason I went for a career in private equity real estate.

I preferred the idea of investing in something tangible for the long term.

Just like real estate.?

Before I go further, let me set something straight.

You can – and actually, you must – invest in the stock market for the long term.

Because as per the research out there, this is how you decrease the risks and maximize returns at the same time (!)

And that means:

No need to constantly monitor the stock market

No need to watch your portfolio all the time

No need to try to place transactions like a wall street trader

No need to worry about stock market crashes (because they’re temporary)

… even if all of that may seem counter-intuitive, especially given how “investing” is usually represented around us and on TV.

Rather than stressing out and worrying about your portfolio, once you do it right, you’ll feel just like Paulina, who wrote me this:

"My partner cannot believe that I plan to invest long term without reacting to temporary ups and downs, but on my side - I feel good. And very calm."
