Your Average Jo: I'm Still Standing

There are times in life when we really want to make our mark. And for some, there are times when the mark makes you. After years of deliberation (and doubt and fear…), I decided to take the plunge and get a tattoo.
(Sorry Mom and Dad. Also, why am I apologizing to my parents when I’m 47 years old? That needs its own post.)
I wanted my first tattoo to mean something, but not be a cliche. And much like the way I’ve come up with business names, it came to me when I wasn’t thinking about it.
Still.
WTF, you ask?
I will tell you — and mostly so I don’t have to explain it to everyone who asks. I’ll send them here. (Thanks for the web traffic!)
I have changed schools, jobs, homes, cities and countries numerous times, but still…I have friends from Kindergarten, elementary school, university, first jobs, who still mean as much to me as they did then.
And still, despite the fact that I have a close circle of old friends, I’ve still managed to expand my network and make room for new friends, new experiences and new perspectives.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for more than 15 years. I’ve had businesses boom and businesses fail, but I’m still doing it. Trying and learning and building again.
I’ve had incredible joy, romance, and love. I’ve been devastated, rejected, betrayed and heartbroken. But I still love.
I’ve done great things. I’ve made mistakes. But no matter what happens, I’m still here. And if you are someone important in my life, what I’ve learned and loved, is that you are still here, too. So not only have I made a mark, but you’ve made one on me.
And yes Mom, this tattoo will still be here when I’m an old lady.
