Your AI Assistant Is Smarter Than You're Letting It Be

Your AI Assistant Is Smarter Than You're Letting It Be

My name is Per, and I spend my days bridging the gap between AI's potential and its practical use. Drawing from my experience building AI products used by thousands and running AI workshops for leadership teams, I share insights on making AI work for humans, not the other way around.

"How many relationships can I manage with the free version?"

It's the most common question I get about Andsend. But it's also the wrong question entirely.

It's like asking how many friends you can have on Facebook instead of asking who actually enriches your life.

Last night, reviewing conversations with a client, I caught myself wondering: "When was the last time I actually checked how they're doing?" Not their project. Not their business. Them.

It was a wake-up call. Here I was, watching users marvel at how our AI pulls context from their emails, LinkedIn conversations, and company research - while I knew they were missing something much bigger.

I should know. When we first launched our Playbook feature months ago, I was guilty of the same thing. "Look how smart it is!" I'd say in demos, showing how it crafts perfect follow-ups. But I was stuck in the tool mindset too.

Most users, even the advanced ones, still think of AI as just a smart message writer. "Help me write the next email." "Draft a follow-up." Even when the AI has access to their full conversation history and company research, they're using it like a sophisticated autocomplete.

I get it. It's how we've been trained to think about AI tools. Input, output. Prompt, response.

But here's the thing: Playbooks aren't about writing better messages. They're about telling AI your actual purpose for reaching out. Your relationship-building philosophy. Your communication style. Your goals.

Think about your best professional relationships. They're not built on perfectly timed follow-ups or well-crafted emails. They're built on consistent purpose, genuine interest, and clear intentions.

A few early adopters are starting to see this potential:

"I need to turn early conversations into long-term partnerships." "I want to stay relevant with former colleagues who are now decision-makers." "I'm nurturing relationships with potential enterprise clients who aren't ready to buy." "I need to keep our international partners engaged despite the distance."

These aren't communication tasks. They're relationship goals. And they need more than just a smart writing assistant - they need an AI that understands both your intent and the full context of every interaction.

We're moving from "Write me a good email" to "Help me build trust with this person." But most of us aren't there yet. We're still stuck in the tool mindset.

This changes everything - including how we think about AI services. Today, most tools charge you for usage. Tomorrow? We might charge based on the goals you achieve.

I'm still figuring this out myself. Every time I catch myself slipping back into "just write the next message" mode, I try to pause and remember:

The AI already knows so much about these relationships. It's reading websites, scanning profiles, analyzing conversations. All it needs is for us to tell it why we care.

If you're ready to move beyond using AI as just a writing tool, here's where to start:

  1. Start with why - Before drafting your next message, pause and ask: What's the real goal of this relationship? What outcome am I working toward?
  2. Give context, get results - Take the time to tell AI your relationship-building philosophy. The more it understands your intentions, the better it can help achieve them.
  3. Think in journeys, not messages - Stop optimizing for perfect emails. Start planning relationship paths. Let AI help you see the bigger picture.
  4. Trust the process - The AI already knows more than you think. Give it clear goals, and let it help you build meaningful connections.

I'd love to hear how you're approaching this shift. Drop your thoughts in the comments below. Let's learn from each other! ??

I completely agree! It's easy to get caught up in numbers. How do you prioritize quality over quantity in your AI interactions?

Det l?ter helt som det borde vara, att ha ett m?l med sina relationer och varf?r man har dem, men jag har inte b?rjat med AI ?n.

Thank you for a good read, Per! This is a valid reminder that at the core of every interaction, there's a human element that technology should enhance, not replace.
