Your 4th Quarter Checklist

Your 4th Quarter Checklist

You're in your 40's and 50's.

You're at the most exciting stage of your life. It's a time when you have all the ingredients necessary for a fantastic 4th Quarter (your 60's and 70's). All you need is a recipe. See me if you're interested in creating your own unique recipe.

Your ingredients include things like:

  • Experience
  • Failure lessons
  • Success lessons

"Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul."

So, what do you need to leverage these ingredients you have and create that coveted recipe?

"You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old."

Consider the following and, in a comment, add what's missing:

  • Health insurance
  • Living will
  • Sustainable liquid cash
  • Life coach
  • A handful of close relationships
  • Spiritual advisor
  • Physical trainer / health coach
  • Business transition specialist (if you own a business)
  • Healthy diet and exercise regimen
  • Mentors (older people to give you their wisdom)
  • Reverse mentors (younger people to give you their insights)
  • Last will & testament
  • Revocable living trust
  • Healthcare power of attorney
  • Health directives
  • Tax Planner
  • Guardianship designations
  • Financial power of attorney
  • Durable power of attorney
  • Passwords and login list (securely stored)
  • Funeral instructions
  • Titles & property deeds
  • Proof of identity records (birth cert, social security card, marriage/divorce certs, etc.)
  • Succession plan / exit plan (business owners)
  • what would you add?

"I have reached an age when, if someone tells me to wear socks, I don't have to." Albert Einstein

Please remember this

Too many people in their 50's or so start to fret and worry about their decline and eventual death way, way, way too early. They leave so much unlived life on the table. It's tragic. Your eventual decline won't happen until, on average, 12-18 months before your death.

That could be in 10, 20, 30 or even more years from the time you're reading this.

Don't gamble away these precious years for the fraction of time when you will never be able to regain another chance.

"Aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you always should have been." David Bowie

Scott Couchenour, 4th Qtr Coach Great read! It’s never too late, I believe this is why so many veterans decline after retirement, it’s so funny that when your in the military all you wait for is retirement and when you retire, seems like everyone just wants to work again! I think this is where always following a purpose is crucial to living happy
