QUESTION & ANSWER
Q. Hi Liz, I love your approach to resume writing. How can I explain in my resume that I stepped into my manager’s position for three months during her maternity leave, and solved a massive customer service problem during that time? The customer was ready to go to another vendor (he’s a $150K account) and I kept that from happening.
A. You can say, “In my manager’s absence I served as Acting Manager and untangled a thorny customer service issue, saving a $150K/year account.†We call a powerful mini-story like that a Dragon-Slaying Story. Great job stepping in and saving the day!
