It’s all-encompassing, YOUniversity

I wish that someone had told me right from the very start that it was going to be up to me. You see it wasn’t clear that my life would be defined by my actions because there were so many other people in the picture. There was mom and dad, all those aunts and uncles and cousins I didn’t even know I had. Surely, I wouldn’t be expected to figure this out on my own. After all, I joined a family, a clan, a group and obviously they must have a plan for me and my life. I even had the good fortune of having two older brothers to pave the way.

Then one day I woke up and all the support was gone. Some died physically, some died emotionally, while others lived, but went their separate ways. You see it wasn’t logical to think we’d all want to travel the same path. Everybody ended up seeking their own YOUniversity. The term itself which features the word You and hints of Adversity. The term that stands for the uniqueness of you in this large universe. The battle sometimes coined as You vs. It. YOUniversity.

YOUniversity means that right from day one it was up to you. Battling colic, tough luck kid cough it out. Don’t like that food on your plate, eat it. Wish you had fancier clothing; nobody cares. Now that all sounds a bit harsh, but is it?

YOUniversity represents the art of self-dependence.  This means you are on a mission to build financial independence, and in the true meaning of the word, your wealth should be built through entrepreneurship.

Relationships are important in the world of the YOUniversity, but relationships are well-vetted and kept closest to the vest. Having a few people that know, understand and love you is more important than winning class president. Within the true understanding of YOUniversity, one understands just how important he or she is to others. There may not be many, but the few that are close are counting on the YOUniversity to be successful and provide for them.

Achieving YOUniversity status is not easy. It’s a daily journey with small rewards along the way. It’s an inside out approach to thinking with an outside-in understanding of outcomes. Some might ask, is this Zen-like? Possibly. Others might ask, is it Buddha like? No Buddha was too fat (Sorry had to throw in a little humor, no offense to Buddha, my apologies to all Buddhists).

Rather YOUniversity is actually a very simple interpretation that you must learn to count on you in order to optimize your life. For it is from your own battles, mistakes, misjudgments that you must learn and grow, consider them all lessons that were offered to help you build your own YOUniversity. The university of YOU! Class dismissed…
