YOUNGRY's Entrepreneur Movement is Growing Nationally

YOUNGRY's Entrepreneur Movement is Growing Nationally

This is my interview with Ash Kumra, Co-Founder of Youngry.

Youngry?is an entrepreneur media company on a mission to unite the entrepreneurship ecosystem with a democratized platform for news, original video programming, and e-commerce products to help an entrepreneur become successful. Kind of like the ESPN for entrepreneurship.

The company was founded by a two-time White House award-winning entrepreneur, and a globally recognized entrepreneur, who's created some of the largest movements in social media today. You can learn more about their backgrounds here: https://ashkumra.com/ and the co-founder here: https://ankurkgarg.com/

Youngy's advisory board includes Jesse Draper, Josef Holm, Ryan Blair, CNBC Hustles Investor Kumra Arora, Ad.pl.e from the Black Eyed Peas and more.

To help with marketing awareness, pre-launch hype and get our core ecosystem (entrepreneurs, investors, mentors) involved they decided to launch an equity crowdfunding campaign: www.republic.co/Youngry so they can be an early supporter of us from day one. Republic is in partnership with AngelList, and the campaign ends later September.

We are launching our content platform Youngry.com officially later in October 2016 and due to our current marketing campaign have a national entrepreneur list of 50,000 plus and have entrepreneur community relationships with over 20 major hubs.

Ash Kumra was so kind to answer a few questions about Youngry and their campaign.

Question 1: What did you crowdfund and on which platform?

We are doing equity crowdfunding specifically Title III REG CF deal for Youngry? on Republic.co.

Republic.co is backed by AngelList and founded by AngelList alumni. AngelList democratizes angel investing. This coincides with the Jobs Act with Title III which allows for accredited and unaccredited investors to invest up to $1,000,000 every 12 months.

Question 2: Why did you choose crowdfunding to raise money?

Youngry is for entrepreneurs; they are Youngry’s ecosystem. It’s important to us to give our ecosystem a chance to be a part of Youngry from the beginning. Allowing them to grow with Youngry and follow how it's doing. Equity crowdfunding is a great way to get seed money and to finance your first rounds. It also helps us to build a relationship with our investors.

Question 3: What was the most unexpected challenge that you had to deal with during your campaign and how did you overcome it?

Dealing with the legal paperwork, educating people about equity crowdfunding and dealing with doubts/skepticism. This was overcome by making this a team effort. Building a team and a support system with advisors on how to address these issues.

Question 4: What would you say was the key to success for your campaign?

Creating the movement, passion, and proving that Youngry is capable. The movement and our passion aided in connecting people with a common purpose! Creating Youngry’s movement which is connecting mentors, entrepreneurs, and advisors in order let entrepreneurship thrive.  Many are Young in entrepreneurship, but Hungry in ambition. We don’t want entrepreneurs to let go of their ideas because of fear and the feeling of loneliness-feeling like you’re the only one who gets what you’re trying to accomplish. That’s why we built this movement to let them know they aren’t alone! The movement and our passion aided in connecting people with a common purpose.

Youngry’s capabilities are shown through the use of social media to create traction and social proof as well as the teamwork I mentioned earlier.

Question 5: Which Krowdster tools did you use and how did it help your campaign become successful?

We like the Crowdfunding Twitter Marketing & Influencer Marketing a great deal. We are a media company, and we feel this medium is one of the best to help reach our audience and influencers directly. Krowdster's tools allow us to reach our ideal audience and connect with other influencers relevant to us asap.

Their Media List package has been essential to getting awareness for our movement! We average 4 to 8 interviews weekly partially due to this!

Question 6: What’s the most valuable lesson that you’ve learned from your crowdfunding experience?

Finding what works for Youngry. I really connect with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. However, with Youngry, I found Twitter to be very useful. Going back to the movement, I found that people really want that. People want to be a part of something, a sense of community. A simple common mission. Top of mind tagging people on social media like Twitter shows that you are making that connection. Impact and influence are important than numbers.
