Young Professionals are Fully Embracing Technology
As we shift into a more virtual reality, there is a learning curve that many of us will endure. We’re joining more video calls to stay connected, ordering food through online menus to support local businesses, and relying on streaming services more than ever for entertainment when we’re at home. For some, this has been a challenging transition, though for young professionals in particular, they’re fully embracing technology, and have been all along.
A study from the Pew Research Center found that 93% of millennials – or young professionals – own smartphones, and nearly 100% use the internet. Whether it be for social media posting or remote working, millennials continuing to lead working professionals (when compared to Baby Boomers or Gen Z) in terms of technology use. These young professionals are embracing technology for both work and their daily lives and because of this, they’re not only helping us stay connected, but revolutionizing the way we work.
By 2025, Deloitte expects millennials to account for 75% of the workforce, and with that, comes their expectation that they’ll be working under a technology-enabled environment. More young professionals expect the flexibility to work remotely, and be equipped with the tools to do so. Though, this also comes with their willingness to work outside of the traditional 9-5 work day, as they’re inclined to check emails before getting out of bed in the morning, and respond later in the evening.
Because technology is ingrained into their every day, there tends to be quite a bit of overlap between work and life for young professionals. As we continue to adapt to our new normal, this demographic in particular is showing us how embracing technology can make this transition that much smoother.
