Young professionals connect with mentors, explore careers during Reid's Road to Rehab
Reid's Road to Rehab Services program hosted eight high school and college students for a two-week program in June. Led by Reid Rehab Therapists and Athletic Trainers serving as mentors, this program provides aspiring therapists and athletic trainers in our communities an in-depth look into the professions of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, and athletic training.
Students received a tour of Reid facilities, had opportunities to observe across inpatient and outpatient settings in pediatrics and adults, talk with expert team members from all rehab services disciplines, and further increase their knowledge of each area of Rehab.
The goal behind this program is to encourage young people who have an interest in rehabilitation to pursue further education and provide support to them as they navigate their way through post high school and into college.
Road to Rehab pairs them with a mentor along the way so they can ask questions and gain observation hours and clinical rotations as needed in the future along with resume building.
Additional experiences for students interested in athletic training are offered at local school systems. Students can talk with the Reid Athletic Trainer at their school to participate.
Reid Health Rehab Services and Athletic Training are here to help future generations with questions about future healthcare professions.
