Abdul Rahim is a young Marine Zoologist who has dedicated his life to the conservation and protection of marine life. His passion for marine biology began at a young age, and he pursued his studies in the field, obtaining a degree in Marine Biology from a reputable university. After graduation, he began working with national and international organizations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), where he gained extensive experience in marine conservation and research.
Currently, Abdul Rahim holds the position of Deputy Director Environment at the Gwadar Development Authority, where he is responsible for overseeing the conservation and protection of marine ecosystems in the Gwadar region. In this role, he has implemented numerous conservation programs aimed at preserving marine life and promoting sustainable fishing practices.
Recently, Abdul Rahim made a significant discovery that highlights the challenges facing marine conservation efforts in the region. While conducting routine surveys, he came across a juvenile pod of little Indian porpoises that had been killed by illegal fishing practices. The porpoises had been caught in trawl nets, a fishing method commonly used by Sindh-based trawlers.
Abdul Rahim's discovery highlights the urgent need for action to protect marine life in the region. He has called for stricter regulations to govern fishing practices and for increased awareness of the importance of marine conservation. He has also advocated for the implementation of sustainable fishing practices that promote the responsible use of marine resources while protecting fragile ecosystems.
