Dear Amanda,
You have now joined a nationwide cohort of contenders vying for not only the Gold Coast Young Entrepreneur of the Year title, but also the 2020 Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year award to be announced at the culmination of all others.
The backstory:
In 2015, I was nominated by Young Professionals Gold Coast for Young Professional of the year. I was a finalist in 2015 and 2016 for this category. (Swipe to see the article about my first nomination in 2015)
The Young Entrepreneur community always felt like a place I belonged, well before I even had my own business to nominate.
I remember the days when I would study finalists backstories - it really inspired me to take the leap into entrepreneurship and I made a promise to myself that I would return as a contender, and I did!
In 2018, I returned to the awards as a finalist in the Marketing category after my first year in business - I remember just scraping in that year!
In 2019 I was back again, but I didn’t win - for me, this has never been about winning, it’s been about levelling up.
Each year that I sit down and write out my application, I reflect on the achievements built on the year prior.
This year, (the craziest year of my life) I’m feeling confident about my place in the 2020 line up. Whether I win or lose, I know I’ll learn because, for me, that’s what these awards are about.
I'm a massive fan of this annual check-in process (just ask my clients haha), it’s an opportunity to put our work up for the critical judgement of others - it keeps us on our toes!
This community has been such an integral part of my growth and I will continue to strive to be amongst the talent - for as long as I am considered young!
