You,?Me

You,?Me

What do you call a girl

Who gets attached in a heartbeat,

Wears her heart on her sleeve, but hides it, discreet.

She’s scared to let her true self show,

In fact, no one knows?—?except those who get close.

She acts like she’s tough, like she doesn’t care,

Pretends that emotions aren’t hers to bear.

She processes it all with logic and grit,

But back home, in her heart, she feels every bit.

She cries for the pain, the sorrow, the joy,

Loves when those near her succeed,

But aches with them when they’re in need.

She convinces herself she’s despised,

Believes everyone has something to hide.

So she pulls back, shields her soul,

Protecting herself to stay in control.

But little does she know she’s not alone,

Many fight battles that aren’t shown.

Every day’s a war,

Between the face she wears and the truth she stores.

On the days she can’t switch between, She spends them alone, unseen.

She avoids the calls that come her way,

Not because she doesn’t care,

But she’s afraid to show too much, so she pares it down, unaware.

When she doesn’t pick up, it’s not just a choice,

It’s because she’s lost in her own voice,

Hates to leave that place inside, To put on the mask, to once more hide.

She pretends it’s easy to flip the switch,

But only she knows the inner hitch.

She’s passionate, driven, full of fire,

Yet almost every day, she tires, Thinking she’s trailing far behind.

But little does she know,

She’s sparked someone’s climb, helped them grow.

She’s a changemaker, a force in bloom,

No need to fear she’ll fade too soon.

She’s a tree, with roots so deep,

She’ll keep growing, she’ll reach her peak.

Little does she know she’s not the only one,

Everyone carries a girl like her, undone.

All they need is a hand to hold,

To hear it’s okay, to be told: It’s okay to feel, to be,

It’s okay to live raw, to let it all free.

Maybe she’ll find her way through, Maybe she’ll heal, maybe she’ll renew.

What do you call this girl? You? Me?
