You’ll Never Know What You Are Capable of Until You Try
Living this crazy floating lifestyle has reinvigorated my entrepreneurial energy in a way I did not see coming. I’ve been very blessed to be able to live this lifestyle aboard our Floating Home while still running my business.
In the last 2.5 years, there have been a few instances when Stephanie and I have encountered some ‘situations’ that really tested us – some by accident, and some because we Just Said Yes to trying something new.
If you’re an entrepreneur who’s not achieving the level of success you desire, while there could be many reasons, I’ll bet one of them is because you are not playing a big enough game.
In other words, you’re making small and seemingly safe bets on yourself and business, and hoping for a big return.
Certain challenges that I’ve said yes to as a boat captain have made me realize that perhaps I too have slipped into the “safe and comfortable” zone as an entrepreneur.
One such time that we decided to step outside of our comfort zone was traveling north to New England last June. Typically, we would be 3-5 miles off the coast, a distance we could still see land. On this particular leg of our journey, we decided to shorten the distance and go with the ‘ol straight line theory we all learned in grade school.
What made this decision a challenge was that for a couple hours, we would be 16-18 miles from land. To be honest, when we were out in the Atlantic Ocean, seemingly all by ourselves, it was a little unnerving, but we just kept heading east towards our desired destination.
When we arrived in Long Island, we felt very proud for doing something new that was outside of our comfort zone. It’s these types of experiences that I mentioned earlier.
My desire to risk and play a bigger game, to experience more out of life, has also reinvigorated my desires as an entrepreneur.
But what about you? Are you trying to grow your Dream Business and live your Dream Lifestyle while still playing inside your comfort zone?
Do you desire more success, and are ready to accept it if it arrives, or are you still swimming in the shallow end of the pool – or in my example, only 3 miles from shore? Big growth happens when you make big bets.
