Apply now! GCA Local Adaptation Champions Awards

The Global Center on Adaptation's Local Adaptation Champions Awards #LLAChampions spotlight and reward innovative, exemplary, inspiring, and scalable locally led efforts that address the impacts of climate change and build effective climate resilience among the most vulnerable communities, sections of society, and individuals who are at the frontlines of the greatest existential threat faced by humankind. This year, after the success of 2022, we are relaunching the Awards with new categories as we expand our reach and continue to highlight exceptional locally led efforts around the world.?

The Awards are open to any individual, organization, or group of partners worldwide, who have implemented or are in the process of implementing climate change adaptation or resilience interventions.

Twenty nominees will benefit from publicity around their nomination for the Awards.

Four winners will receive a cash prize of €15,000 and be invited to an Award Ceremony at COP28 in Dubai, which will take place from 30th November to 12th December 2023.

The call for applications will be open from 1st to 31st August 2023.

Meet the 2022 Local Adaptation Champions

  • Rangamati Hill District Council supports the climate-vulnerable communities in Bangladesh in building resilience to droughts, landslides and floods with their community-led solar water pump
  • Adaptation Consortium?designed a County Climate Change Fund to support communities in Kenya to create, access, and use climate finance from a variety of sources in order to reduce their vulnerability to climate change.
  • Community Development & Advocacy Forum Nepal are rehabilitating land, conserving water, and managing the river system using techniques designed and developed with the community.
  • Swayam Shikshan Prayog created the?“one-acre” Climate Resilient Farming model: women borrow a parcel of land from their families, to cultivate food crops for their families instead of only water-intensive cash crops.

What has been spoiled through man's fault, can be made good again through man's work. It is not an immutable fate that has caused the state of corruption. Then we must see to it that the new way is safely entered upon, so that any re -currencies may be avoided. The same with debasing attitudes, and fashions, that corrupt human society. To do away with this corruption, in such a way it unfolds in an orderly sequence. Non Political, Non Religious, Strictly Spiritual. We respect all political, philosophical, human, and faith beliefs.
