I have come across a lot of promotional stuff stating ‘Write a Book in 3 days’. Well, is it really possible to write a book in 3 days?
Perhaps Yes, for the people who are offering these workshops because they have built a process over years to come to offer this. But, what about the value of such books? Are they readable? Are they likeable? Are they even well thought out and executed?
Two months back, a prospect reached out to me to write a book. He said he wanted it in a fast-forward mode because he was very busy. This person had attended some book-writing workshops and already knew the book-writing process. He only needed someone to write for him as he was occupied with his businesses.
I told him, “I will take three months to write a book.”
He said, “What Mam, I have known people who write books in 3 days.”
I said, “Well, they must have written, but not me.”
He took some time to decide on working with me and ultimately told me let’s complete the book in 20 days, as he had a huge event lined up already for the book launch.
Now, this was the first of its kind for me, as I had never written a book in such a tight timeline. Multiple stakeholders contributed information to the book, multiple staff coordinated with me at different times, and every time there was a new update. Despite all that, I completed the first draft in 19 days and sent it.
I was beginning to doubt my own process, that I need 3 months to write a book.
I took 3 months because it gives me and the clients time to go phase-wise and reflect back and forth on what we have written. We sometimes rewrite and then edit and proofread.
But here I was happy, I could complete something in a flat 20 days as the client expected. My happiness was short-lived, as then started rolling the additional inputs, edits, upgrades, images, and all the other things my client felt were missing in the book. This went on for the next 25 days, even a day before the book was published and ranked a best seller.

And then, 15 days after the book is published, we are still working on edits suggested by the client for the 2nd version.
I told my client, “You see why I was asking you more time for the book.”
In our fast-paced world, the temptation to rush through this sacred process is ever-present. However, the true essence of a book lies in the depth of its content and the authenticity of its voice. When we rush, we risk losing the soul of our writing, and with it, the connection we seek to build with our readers.
A book is a sentimental journey of our expressions, experiences, and expertise, and should be a reflective journey. Today, AI could help you write a book in 3 days, or you could yourself pen down some stuff, but think about it, What value is it bringing to the readers?
A substantial book should be –
? Filled with experiences and not just information
? Have ease of language and should be easily readable for anyone
? Well researched and packed with genuine references that are acknowledged
? Filling the gap with what other books in the market have not been able to accomplish
A book is a world in itself, and when you are creating a new world, you can’t be in a hurry. Each chapter, each paragraph, and each sentence must be given the time and space to breathe, grow, and mature into something that resonates deeply with the reader.
