There’s no such thing as a difficult past. There’s only the story you choose to believe about it.
There's no such thing as one 'truth' about the past. There's a narrative about your history you have chosen and decided to hold onto.
Have you considered that it might be this story that's holding you back?
Your story is about more than just what happened to you in the past: events, mistakes, successes, failures.
If your version of your story is of events happening 'to' you, of unfairness, or of helplessness, or of luck in the face of external circumstances, then that is the story you'll keep living. It’s the future you’ll keep creating.
Your real story is the one about HOW you got here. It isn’t about events, it’s about who you were when things got hard. It’s the story of your courage and determination. The decisions you made in difficult circumstances. The challenges you overcame and how resourceful you had to be. The lessons learned from failure and mistakes.
It's within your control to choose this version of your past. To write your own story.
You can decide to believe the story that will serve you.
When you have Imposter Syndrome, the temptation is to believe the version of your past where you do not have control. But the story of how you got here is more about your future than your past. Be intentional about how you think about it. Choose the one that serves you.
In Imposter Syndrome Coaching, a significant part of the work we do together is reconstructing your story to find a narrative that will serve you and help you progress in your career. The next enrolment is coming soon. Don't miss out! ?Join the waitlist here.
