Are you worried about the Voice?

Julian Leeser, the Liberal politician who has had a very long association with the conversation about Constitutional Recognition says,

“The voice is not about special treatment or privileges. It’s about Indigenous children, their lives and their future, and trying to create the conditions so Indigenous children can walk confidently in two worlds.”?

I agree.

Almost all indigenous leaders agree.

There are many conservative politicians, universities and former judges who support the voice and agree.

Here is a list of some of them.

These people disagree with the stance of their own parties who want you to worry about things that will never happen.

What do you think that disagreement means?

Senior Liberals and Nationals who support the Voice agree with Julian Leeser.

Sorry Stuart. The proposal is not about race rather about indigenous heritage. To compare a proposal that offers only a chance to make recommendations to segregation imposed on people because of the colour of their skin is frankly a few steps too far in the screaching misinformation that has occured. No where in the voice proposal will any person be prevented from going to a beach or a toilet or a school or sitting on a bus because of the colour of their skin. The use of such extreme and nonsensical comparison is sad. Apartheid was structural oppression. The Voice calls only... at the most... for listening...not segregation. I am for listening and avoiding extreme rhetoric.

Steve, before any other argument is this not a proposal to embed apartheid in the constitution. That an ethnic group can be the only one elected/selected because the constitution mandates it. If this wrong and any ethnicity can be a be part of the voice, then what stops a government selecting an all non-indigenous voice, either the constitution creates a apartheid situation or worse it allows a corruption of the intent. These things can happen ordinarily in politics but to embed in the constitution is wrong.

#drpaulphillips No more than the leader of the opposition quoting unnamed first nation's people who he says are opposed to the Voice. I am delighted to name real and thoughtful people who have considered the issues and formed a view.

Stephen Lancken isn't pointing to who agrees with it just an appeal to consensus (a well know logical fallacy)?
