My face when I had to build my first team:
Discovering your own “genius zone” (and your team’s) creates more satisfaction, prevents throwaway work, and so much more.
Knowing and maintaining everyone’s Genius Zone prevents people from being put in the wrong roles and highlights when and where they are most likely to underperform.
So what are the Genius Zones?
We call them the workers.
They take pride in what they do and sometimes these people don’t adjust well to frequent, BIG changes…
2. Others don’t really want to be doing the tasks, they’d rather oversee the execution to ensure the task(s) get done.
We call these people managers.
This zone acts like the bridge between all departments. They control the projects, processes, and systems within the company or team. They have to have strong communication skills.
3. Then, we have the innovators.
This group is constantly thinking of new ideas for the company or department. Usually their definition of work is to think. The innovators are more of the creative type and are Founders or CEO’s of the companies.
This zone adapts to changes quite well (because they probably thought of these changes). Innovators have to be careful about making frequent changes because others on their team thrive on certainty and consistency.
Having this Genius Zone Model in place is the quickest way to make sure that everyone on the team is working on the right thing at the right time.
It’s also the best way for a person to understand their value with an employer and to see what they need to do to build their career and income.
Mapping your team’s Genius Zones also shows where they would be the happiest in their work and what would make them the most stressed, and who might need more support.
The best part?
It typically takes less than 10 minutes to identify where each person is in the Genius Zone Model.

The Tech Leader Program
How do you create a tangible change in results?
Use the T.D.A.R Framework.
To change any result (R) you have to change the actions (A) you take.
To change your actions you need to change your decisions (D), and to make better decisions you need to be able to think (T) differently about the problems and goals you are working on.?
The T.D.A.R Framework is the practical process at the heart of the Tech Leader Program.
If you have the drive and ambition to change your career and increase your impact and income, then book a call and ask how we can help you.
