Are you working too hard to get it?

Hello sweet Soul!

Today’s inspiration comes to you from Dr. Lisa Miller. She was interviewed by Lewis Howes on his School of Greatness podcast and I loved it, so thought you might also! Especially at this time of year with new desires you’d like to have come to fruition!

She talked about the difference between making things happen vs. allowing them to unfold. So sure, you can have a goal and take necessary steps to achieve it but there are times the things you want can seem unachievable.

She used a great analogy of a red door. You can work hard to achieve a desire. And at times, it doesn’t matter what you do, the damn door just doesn’t open. You bang and bang but it’s locked.

This is when she says, you pivot. I thought of how if a plane turns only one degree for many miles, it would end up in a different location without you even feeling the plane turn.

You realize there’s a yellow door. That door is open and it contains what you want, but sometimes we’re so focused on the red door and ‘making it happen’ that we don’t even notice the yellow door.

This reminds me of surrender. And a decision to stop banging on a door that maybe isn’t meant for me. We are always on the right path. It does lead you to where you’re supposed to be. We just need to realize that working too hard for something might be the sign that it’s not the way you’re supposed to go about it.

So a little pivot might just lead you in a new direction.

It’s important to trust the nudges, pay attention to the signs and listen to what your inner guidance will tell you, if you stay open to it. You can get caught up in your ego thinking you know the route to your desires.

This shift is about taking your hands off the wheel (thank you Carrie Underwood) and allowing life’s universal intelligence to guide you. You will get what you want, you just might need to realize you don’t always have to know the ‘how.’ And, maybe you don’t always get what you want, but you get what you need.

Is there a red door in your life you’d like to replace with a yellow door?

All my love,

K ??
