The ‘normal’ corporate lifestyle kills an estimated 1,67,37,000 people every year.90% of the health problems we face today can be traced back to our lifestyle.Don’t be the next victim.
Avoid these 7 mistakes to live a longer, healthier life:
? 1. Sitting for more than 2 hours at a stretch.Negative effects of sedentary lifestyle start with body aches and get worse over time — leading to obesity and heart problems. To reduce these risks, take short breaks to stretch and walk around, even if it’s for 5 minutes.
? 2. Drinking chai/coffee throughout the day.Sorry guys, but most cups of these drinks are loaded with sugar. Consuming them gives you peaks and crashes of energy, and can add up to problems with your heart and blood sugar. So switch to green tea or black coffee instead.
? 3. Eating vending machine snacks often. Most packaged snacks are high in calories and artificial trans-fats, which are the worst for your health and can lead to heart disease and diabetes. So carry some fruits and dry-fruits instead.

? 4. Picking meals based on convenience. Cooking every meal for yourself might not be possible, but eating out or ordering on Zomato every day is ruining your figure, health, and bank balance. Learn meal prep or invest in a home cook if you can.
? 5. Spending 95% of your time indoors. This not only disturbs your body’s biological clock but can also cause your mental health to deteriorate. Try to get involved in an outdoor sport, or go outside for walks every day.
? 6. Neglecting your mental health. In the high-stress environment of most offices, people often have very little time for themselves. So draw your boundaries, spend some time alone when possible, stay active, and seek help if required.
? 7. Not drinking enough water. Dehydration is the most common cause for headaches and tiredness at work. If you have a 1 litre bottle, you should be finishing it thrice in your working hours. So refill it and keep sipping!
? 8. Delaying physical fitness.“I need to build my career in my 20s, I’ll join a gym when I’m more settled.” - Many people think this, but it’s often too late by the time they get there. Just work out for 1 hour, thrice a week.
? 9. Overworking. Most people get mentally exhausted after 8 hours of work, but push on for even longer. Working overtime once in a while is fine, but do this too often and you risk chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression.
? 10. Smoking. People smoke to relieve stress, but studies have shown that nicotine only increases anxiety. So take a healthier alternative to smoke breaks, and spend those 5 minutes stretching and walking instead. Don't become a statistic. Cut down on these unhealthy work habits, and you’ll be able to spend more time with your kids and grandkids in the future.
