Do you ever find yourself asking yourself (about someone else), why can’t they see it? Perhaps, it’s a behavior or approach that’s simply not working, and it seems obvious to you. We call these blind spots.
You have them as well, and there are likely people around you saying the same thing about you – why can’t he or she see it?
I’ve concluded that we’re asking the wrong question of others (Why can’t they see it?) and ourselves (Why can’t I see it?). The right questions are this: Are they willing to see it? or Am I willing to see it?
We’re all capable of seeing, but we’re not always willing (and ready) to see it. Don’t give up on others or yourself, but keep an eye out for the things that are getting in the way of seeing something (and it will often be about willingness and readiness – not ability).
