You Are Who You Tolerate
Today, harness your awareness and pay attention to who is around you at work and in your personal life. Look around and see if there is negativity influencing you. Are you being influenced by negative people like a"Chatty Cathy" and others who do not seem to be fulfilled and happy in their own lives? Ultimately we are who we tolerate. The people who we keep around can influence our way of thinking. We all have the choice in any moment to make a decision about who we connect with. Sometimes if we are at our place of employment we do not have a choice in regards to who is there. Yet, we do have a choice in how to respond. When we are interacting with someone we are taking in information at different levels. We are hearing a person’s: tonality, inflection and seeing and responding to their facial expressions and all of these interactions influence us. There are two kinds of influence as a giver or receiver. Sometimes we are the ones negatively influencing others yet we can also be a positive influence. It is totally up to you.
"You are the company you keep"-- is the well recognized adage. Sometimes we may feel something is amiss or that something is not right so we need to see who is influencing us. Who are you spending time with right now? Are people in your life bringing positivity or negativity? We have to make a conscious decision to make or break ties. It is good to look at who is around us and find out if you are being influenced or if you are an influencer of others; whether it is positive or negative. Perhaps, we are already around people who live the life our dreams are made of. They can can help us to see the steps of what we need to do to get to where we are going. Ultimately, we are who we tolerate and who is around us. You can decide what kind of energy you want to create by paying attention to those around you and how you respond to them.
Cheers to your success,
Jen Crowe

6 年Wisdom from the ages. My mentor has told me, "Your environment is stronger than your will-power" and I think that's true, except we do have the will to change our environment. I've let go of a few energy-drainer friends over the past few years, and though a part of me always feels pain to cut ties, the end result has always been much better (most likely for them, too.)
