You are where you spend your Time.

The most important resource you can control is where you put your Time, Energy and Attention.
As part of my coaching system I teach people how to best use and manage T.E.A.M - or T.E.A.R -- that is
Time,
Energy,
Attention,
Money
or Time, Energy, Attention and Resource.
One cannot actually control time because time is flow, it passes irrespective but you choose what you do in it. To do that you use what is fixed/finite and constrained which is your Attention & Energy (& Resources).
Time is a fixed and finite resource. You can't increase it, borrow it, or get it back. At best you can leverage it by outsourcing or delegating tasks that you don't want to do or are not worth your time. What you choose to do or not do should not just depend on your mood or how you feel, and it will help you avoid procrastination because of "fear".
?The most important lesson my father taught me was
"You are where you spend your time."
If we spend time in the gym exercising, we get fit, If, you while away your time watching tv, you will become a couch potato. If we spend time doing productive work we make money, if we spend time investing in others, we build great relationships, if we spend time discovering and inventing, we make things, if you spend time in research/academia you make discoveries and expand the frontiers of man- kind's knowledge. If we spend time building a portfolio of options, we create freedom and if we spend our time on high impact projects, we make a better society. If you spending your time building your network, connections and being visible, you build your brand. As the saying goes the more, I practise, the better I get. Practise is a function of time, energy, and commitment.
The difference between a project and a dream is that a project has a date or milestone. You have to decide where to invest your time and energy and understand how your goals connect to values, drives and happiness. By understanding the risks and obstacles in your goals and projects you will get better outcomes and less stress.
Happiness happens when-
-are in a state of alignment
If you goal is to maximise your personal happiness/contentment then this success system will help you with that "goal"
We all have the same 24 hours, how we use that time will determine what we get done and if we do things that are meaningful, relevant, fun, pleasurable, you will make everyday a good day.
Our brains are wired for fun and pleasure but our long-term goals/ future self (personal growth, goals, pension, health, relationships etc) aren't always congruent with our short term (pleasure) self.
While some of our ideas of pleasure are hardwired in your brain and hormone system at birth, others are learnt as we grow up. Even in work, we learn from reward whether it is the approval of a boss you respect, the reward of a bonus for a job well done or the satisfaction of promotion or the hug of a loved one. Understanding how these factors connect with our goals is also important in defining satisfying and rewarding goals.
Denial creates conflict and you need to manage your needs for pleasure and fun with your long-term goals. The more you feel you are missing out, the harder the goal feels.
One way you can create the right motivation is to create your own reward system for any particular goal, or task so that you can your brain associates a particular activity with a reward. We all have a "happy hormone system" which rewards the brain with dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin etc, and we crave things like sugar, food, love etc but we can also use these to reprogram our mind to find other activities pleasurable by creating an association with pleasure.
Once we have the anticipation of a reward or pleasure, the brain actually releases dopamine in anticipation of pleasure. You can choose to create a suitable reward by linking an activity with pleasure. Scheduling fun, rest and recreation is as important as sleep, exercise and working on your goals.
This system will help you with all of these. Afterall if life isn't easy and fun, how long can you do it for. Having fun and achieving meaningful goals is the perfect life.
How long can you give up life's little pleasures and still achieve your life goals. We live in the present, but we also want a better future.
?All we have is time, how and what we spend it on. It determines our happiness, fun, pleasure, success and personal productivity. When you spend your time doing what matters and minimise doing things that don't matter you will be more content. Finding the right mix between immediate pleasure and long-term goals and purpose depends on you.
"Systems" reduce cognitive load, stress, reduce errors, friction and "pain" and keep us on track. What's easy gets done.

The aim of this system is to make sure you spend time on things that matter, give your pleasure, meaning and purpose and you know your "why"
When your goals are aligned with your purpose and values you are less likely to sabotage yourself.
Think of this "system" as the equivalent
of the task manager on your computer. It manages and prioritises the different programs running on your computer.
Part of any success system is also about being able to prioritise your activities and doing them in a structured systematic way that gives you the maximum benefit and make the best use of your resources and constraints like time, mental and physical energy and leverage other factors like money, networks, connections, situations, events/timing, and reputation/personal brand.
Often, it's not the goals that are the problem, it's also about having a system that reduces the "friction" of life. Most of us get frustrated with the little pebbles in our shoes. Left unattended these little pebbles can cause blisters.
By making things simple and easy, things get done. This "system" will help you find your personal balanceand help you minimise some of the short-term frictions in your life.
"It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe."

In every business there is a limiting factor or finite resource. To maximise the income/profit/output you seek to maximise the return for that finite resource.
Work/Life Balance
The first decision you make is where to invest you time.
The biggest thing that causes burnout is when we have too many commitments on our time, energy and attention, and we cannot get the result we want.
Time x energy (mental, physical, emotional) = Result (Happiness)
One of the challenges we have is how to balance our time. Fundamentally there are 4 things we can put our time and energy into.
If we devote time to ourselves, we can organise our lives, our systems (home etc), health, spiritual, hobbies, fitness etc.
If we spend time with our family, we can strengthen those relationships and help them be better and happier people.
If we spend time building our network and circle of friends, we feel connected, and they become part of our social support system.
If we devote our time to our work, business or project and persevere and are willing to adapt to changing circumstances then we will get the reward we get from that be it money, power, status, recognition etc.
