If you want to achieve your goals, read this!

We all set goals that serve as guiding points that keep us motivated and moving forward. These goals imbue our lives with purpose and significance, giving us a sense of direction and fulfillment.

Let me be real with this article.?

  • How many of those goals do you achieve??
  • Do you remember the purpose of your goal every day?
  • Are your intentions fully aligned with your goal?

While working with many people and with myself too, I found out that most of the goals just vanish from your life. In this hustle and bustle, you tend to forget the goal, which makes it harder to achieve. I have seen people who have been trying to achieve only 1 goal for the past 3–4 years, and whenever I tried to find out the reasons, they would go alike:

“I don’t know Ridhima; it’s just not happening.”

“I am doubtful and procrastinate.”

“I am scared. What if it doesn’t work?”?

“What if it’s not meant for me?”?

But my question is: If you want it so bad, why are you letting these thoughts stop you??

So here’s my step-by-step guide for you to start your goal-setting process, something I do every day, and I achieve most of my goals with it.

Now it’s time to deep dive. Read this article with patience, take your time, and note down if you would like to!

  1. Set Your Intentions Right: Before you start working on your goal, ask yourself, 'Why do you want to achieve this and what is the higher purpose of this?'. Take a deep breath, clean your mind, and sit with yourself. Deep dive into this thinking mode and look for a higher purpose. For example, let’s say you want to exercise daily. Now look for the higher intentions: Why do you want to exercise daily? Do you want to look good and feel confident, or do you want to feel lighter and more yourself? This step can make some great changes in you and how you look at your goals. Sit with yourself and do it right.
  2. Make your goals clear. Clarify your intentions and be precise with your goals. When you have specific and focused objectives, you naturally eliminate distractions and unproductive behaviors. This clarity allows you to direct your energy more efficiently and makes it easier to overcome obstacles. By maintaining a clear vision, you enhance your ability to make decisions and prioritize actions that align closely with your aspirations, ultimately leading to more meaningful progress.
  3. Own your goals. Assume full responsibility for your goals because you are the primary agent of the actions required to achieve them. If you find yourself falling short, take accountability for any shortcomings. This approach reinforces a sense of personal responsibility and commitment. By owning both your successes and your setbacks, you foster resilience and a proactive mindset. This not only motivates you to push through challenges but also empowers you to adjust your strategies and improve your approach where necessary, ensuring continuous progress toward your ambitions

4. Visualize them: “Sapne dekhne se poore hote hai." You will achieve your goals if you visualize them. When you see your goals in front of you, you are reluctant to focus on them. See them and get the state. Feel how you will feel when you achieve them. Let’s go back to the previous example: if you want to exercise daily, visualize the results you will get and how confident and glowing you will be. Visualization boosts your motivation, as seeing the potential outcome of your efforts helps to solidify the reality and attainability of your goals.

5. Execution of the goals:?Now that all the thinking is done, once you are mentally and emotionally ready to do it, It’s time to execute!

Diassoasciate with the Plan

Yes, it might sound tricky, but you have to dissociate from that bigger plan in your head. Let’s understand more with an example, shall we? Let’s say you want to lose 10 kg in 2 months. Now if you keep thinking 10 KGS in 2 months! It would never work.

Look out for the first step and take into consideration every element needed for your weight loss. Start with something simple, like walking 5 km every day to simplify your diet or manage your gut health. It takes us to the next part of the execution process:

a) Chunk down your goals into smaller parts:?Breaking down your goals into smaller, more manageable chunks is crucial because it makes the overall task seem less daunting and more achievable. This process, known as "chunking," helps maintain momentum by providing frequent moments of accomplishment that boost your motivation. Take small steps at the beginning. If you want to run a marathon, start walking every day!

b) Treat yourself:?Give yourself a pat on the back or a big hug! Rewarding yourself after achieving each goal is an excellent way to maintain motivation and recognize your hard work. These rewards can be as simple as a small treat or an activity you enjoy, which reinforces positive behavior and encourages you to continue striving towards your next objective.

c) Reflect:?Taking the time to reflect on your actions and outcomes is essential for continuous improvement. Understand what strategies worked and what didn’t, and consider how you can adjust your approach for better results in the future. This process of self-feedback fosters a mindset of lifelong learning and adaptability, which is crucial for achieving personal and professional goals.

d) Use Modeling - As I have always mentioned modeling is a very great technique to achieve your goals, put this technique into practice. Look out for a model who you can model closely to achieve your goals. Now let’s say you want to do more strength training at the fitness center. Look out for a trainer or someone who is doing strength training. Model them, match their physiology and breathing, and watch them closely to learn more!

Now as we are done with the step there one more crucial thing is practice. You won’t make it through if you don’t make this your lifestyle. Use the process for every small or big goal you have.
