Are you using your circumstances as a measurement of how you're transforming? You may want to rethink your strategy...

I fall into this trap myself, so I'm writing this as a reminder as much as I'm writing it as a teaching.

It's so easy to fall into this trap of comparison to others and even to yourself.

We use metrics like weight to determine whether we're on a healthy track, and for anyone who is health-conscious or on a health journey, you quickly learn that your weight, although alluring to look at every day - can often cause you to lose motivation and belief in your habits, even if they are really good habits.

The truth is that no singular metric, or KPI (key performance indicator) tells the entire story of any situation.

We often find the news selectively choosing a stat to share with the public without nary a thought of how that statistic was determined or how it is being used to reshape our perception of events.

I like to joke that 42.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot -- so WTF does this have to do with your spirituality?

Certainly - we all want our circumstances to get better in perpetuity. We also know that life doesn't work this way.

And try as we might control the flow and outcomes of life, we intuitively also know that this is nonsense and that some situation beyond your capacity to imagine is coming into your life or the life of a loved one.

We recently lost a very incredible human being that my family has known for over 40+ years to an intensely aggressive brain tumor.

This wasn't planned nor could have been seen as this individual visibly was very healthy and vibrant and his unwelcome demise has taken an unimaginable toll on his family and friends.

We "do the work" thinking that life is supposed to get better now and it's this metric that we attach to, otherwise what is the point of self-awareness practices if not to make life better.

Well - let's first understand that achievement is not a spiritual concept it's a mental one.

Spirituality could care less about your money in the bank or how your business is doing, although certainly, both can be a reflection or extension of your inner work and I find often are.

Spirituality is focused on the fundamentals of well-being, safety, and the liberation of every human.

Perhaps the things you are wanting to achieve right now are keeping you stuck, attached, or even imprisoned in old habits and identities, and watching them or a relationship fall apart over a long enough timeline may very well set your spiritual liberation in motion in a way you could have never predicted or imagined.

This is a great teacher for us all -- the reality is we don't really know how it all works try as we might.

A great loss today is one of the most pivotal moments of your life ten years from now, for which you have nothing but gratitude and reverence for.

It is this lack of time knowing that throws the human into dismay, and it's why faith in your intuition and faith in spirit is pivotal for your well-being as a human.

Yes, you may be putting in the time, but what is of this time, and why even concern yourself with time just in this lifetime?

Truth is you have all the time you will ever need in this life or another to continue to develop your awareness and liberate yourself until you are the very walking embodiment of awakened consciousness - this is likely the inevitable outcome for all of us.

So if we can put down our need to achieve to feel our value, we can begin to experience that our value here in this form is not based on our circumstances; it is based on the fact that we simply "are".

Your circumstances are a false metric; instead, create a habit of focusing on your state of being as you experience your circumstances.

Meaning that the true metric is not the circumstances that lay in front of you. It is your ability to meet this condition with your resourced and stabilized state of being that matters.

Said another way, the way is being > what you are doing or experiencing.

Notice I said experience your circumstances, not deal with your circumstances.

Dealing could point to a state of stuckness.

Experiencing is for those that are choosing to learn in order to liberate.

It is a subtle and important shift to make.

The KPI I choose to focus on is my state, it is a daily practice of relinquishing my perception of the control I have over my life and meeting all of life with all of myself as I am and as I'm not.

Honoring my state and also honoring the circumstance (the teacher) of this moment who, in my view, is always working towards helping me evolve and liberate my consciousness and energy.

When we train ourselves to live here, our circumstances don't matter all that much, and ironically this stabilized energetic output of consciousness is often then reflected into the organic hologram we call "reality" and meets that stabilized energy with stable circumstances.

And while I wouldn't guarantee any outcome for people, it has been my experience that life DOES get much easier for those that continue to practice increasing their energetic fluidity and liberating their consciousness.

Energy begets energy. A mirroring of our energetic output inevitably arises to meet us in our experience and perception of reality.

Less resistance internally simply creates less resistance to life.
