If you are not transparent, you will not be sustainable
Today we look back and see how the pandemic suddenly forced us to stop our pace of life. A pandemic that has changed us all or at least it should have...
This is how I feel after this period of my life, in which I can attest that I have indeed changed and learned. A time where we should learn how to destroy the models of the past to rebuild a new sustainable world, embracing the real meaning of this word sustainability.?
After these two years of pandemic, I want to be optimistic and believe in the capacity of our civilization to change, as we have always done throughout our history. We cannot miss the opportunity to transform the world by boosting circular economy and creating a more sustainable and respectful society. We cannot make the mistake we made with climate change, when we failed to listen to its advocates. Today's world is unfair and we must try to change it together.
"Doing the right thing is the only investment in the future". Values such as humility, transparency, collaboration and efficiency must be present in our daily lives and intertwine with the application of new technological and digital tools. We must not lose sight of the 'Human Centric'. This is the only way we can be transparent with investors, customers, teams, suppliers, consumers, social partners, NGOs and the entire community.

Only by joining forces, everyone on their own area, we will achieve sustainability. Large corporations, new disruptive start-ups or artisans, all together through respect can achieve the goal of creating a circular economy that cares about improving our lives, immersed in this exciting fourth revolution we are living. Thus, by being united, we will manage to make transparent business, helping to create honest companies, with the aim that all stakeholders value the benefits, and not being exclusively economic.
As you all know, I have dedicated my professional career to the Supply Chain with an international vision, something I will continue doing from a new approach from now on. During these years, I have drawn a valuable conclusion: the most important thing is not only to produce. In fact, thinking like this would take us back to the society we were before Covid, with a selfish and hypocritical mentality that shelter in globalization to justify all our economic mistakes. We are at a time when we have to make decisions, leaving behind those thoughts of reducing costs to increase profits; and glimpse a new reality in which profits go beyond the purely economic: focusing on doing the right thing and communicating it with transparency.
Thinking that to return to normality is to go back to the past, to those old indicators that only rewarded material wealth before any other, is a big mistake.
Let’s think for a moment that we should not look for anyone to blame, we should accept that we all are, from Bangladesh to Shanghai, or from Igualada to S?o Paulo, the same ecosystem, something that Covid has reminded us. There is where we will realize that together we can build a new world, in which we will not only measure our material possessions, but will reward how we feel: "The more transparent I feel the happier I am".?

3 年I partially agree... Yes, you're right when saying that without transparency there's not sustainability... But transparency should not be "universal" transparency, because there are some business secrecy to care of. True certification agencies should exist to verify and give credentials of the sustainability of a product, keeping at the same tine the secrecy of the research. So, welcome transparency, with effective disclosure and the needed protection.
