Are you a to-do lister or a time blocker?

My work roles as business development manager and trainer at Billion Rows come with many repetitive tasks and forward planning. Add to that “any other duties assigned to you” and my days can become overwhelming. Without some task planning and scheduling, I would surely have burnt out already.
I have always been one to use to-do lists, but I have recently learned these can be great for some types of tasks than others. Then I remembered I once toyed with time blocking and decided to revisit it.
So, while to-do lists are task-focused, flexible, easy to use, and give a clear overview of pending tasks, time blocking is time-focused, and structured, increases productivity, and creates clear boundaries for when to start and stop working on a task.
I am finding out that using to-do lists and doing time blocking together is increasing my productivity and stopping me from getting overwhelmed. But it seems I am loving time blocking more as I tend to batch tasks from the to-do lists and assign them time blocks throughout my days.
Now I am just curious to know what tools you are using to plan and schedule your tasks. Are you a to-do lister or a time blocker?
