Are You Tired of Bleeding Potential from Your Team? Here's the Fix.

“My team is not all-in. I can just feel it.”
That’s what the CEO of a 750-person, VC-backed company said to me last week after reading my book, SHIFT the Work: Moving from Apathy to All In Using Your Head, Heart, and Gut. He sensed something was off—a gap between the vision at the top and the reality on the ground. And he's not alone. This disconnect is more common than you might think.
Do you remember the story of the Moon Landing? In 1962, JFK stood at Rice University and pointed not just to the fence but to the moon. He didn’t merely challenge a nation—he inspired one. Later, when he met a janitor, the man didn’t say he was there to clean floors; he said, “I’m here to help put a man on the moon.”
That’s the power of a unified mission.
Today, rallying a team around a single mission is more elusive. Employees are disengaged, communication is fragmented, and the pace of change is relentless. The challenge isn’t just to manage; it’s to inspire and guide your team through uncertainty, uniting them under a shared purpose that drives action.
And like JFK, every visionary leader faces critics. The moon mission was called “nuts,” its value questioned, its feasibility doubted. Sound familiar? It’s the same resistance you face when steering your organization through today’s challenges.
So, what’s the point?
Your mission matters. Your leadership matters. But here's the hard truth: you can’t do it alone.
With $1.9 trillion lost annually to disengaged employees, the stakes are too high to operate with fragmented communication. Recently, the idea of “Founder Mode” has gained traction—staying fully engaged, leading with vision, and unifying your team around a shared purpose.
Why Founder Mode?
Brian Chesky recently upended conventional wisdom—don’t just hire good people and step back. Founders who stay deeply involved build more resilient, engaged teams. Think of Jensen Huang at NVIDIA, Brian Chesky at Airbnb, or Elon Musk across his companies—leaders who live and breathe their vision every day.
But let’s get real: it often comes down to three fatal assumptions every CEO makes:
Communication isn’t about what you say or what they hear; it’s about the response you get back.Communication isn’t about what you say or what they hear; it’s about the response you get back.
What does it mean when you receive no response back? Did they miss the message, fail to understand, or simply choose not to act? In a world where the pace of change is accelerating and complexity is increasing, we can no longer afford to overlook the consequences of digital silence. Lag time, miscommunication, and disengagement are the real enemies.
The CEOs who master communication are the ones who will still be in the game.
And staying engaged not only requires good communication and the right mindset, but you need the right tools too.

This is the stack that turns “keeping up” into “staying ahead.” These tools aren’t optional; they’re essential for unifying your team and navigating uncertainty.
The Old Ways Are Failing Us
Endless meetings, annual surveys, and written memos won’t solve today’s challenges. Modern solutions like Latch are essential to streamline communication, foster engagement, and ensure everyone is aligned.
So, Where Does This Leave You?
Some leaders feel it—a quiet but persistent itch that there’s more to this journey than meets the eye. You’ve built something incredible, but despite everything, there’s still something bigger just out of reach. If you’ve ever felt the need to break free from the grind and lead with more than just ambition—if you’re looking for that next level of leadership where your impact is felt across every facet of your life—you already know this message is for you.
But let me be clear: this isn’t for everyone.
If you’re the kind of leader who feels a pull toward something greater, who knows there’s more to be unlocked, and who wants your impact felt not just in the boardroom but in every interaction, then you’re exactly the kind of rebel this is meant for.
