Are You Thinking of Downsizing or Rightsizing?
Are you thinking about “downsizing” or “rightsizing”?
Here are some great tips to help you decide what to keep and what to say goodbye to and how to do this:
Once you start the process it will make you feel good to see your accomplishments. When I prepare a house to sell/market, I help stage it and actually can make it senior safe in the process by removing excess furniture, rugs or other tripping hazards. Remember as you pack what you’d like to keep, place the boxes in a corner of the garage or basement. Future buyers understand packing to move.
There are wonderful professionals who can help you sort and pack. I asked local expert Kaye Ginsberg, Founder of Peace of Mind Transitions for some recommendations:
“Take it small to start with – don’t try to downsize the entire basement in one day.?
Pick a drawer or a shelf and set a time limit for yourself.?It’s best to start with small successes and tackle the project a piece at a time.?

We also recommend having a “downsizing partner”.?This can be a professional or a friend or family member.?The key is to pick someone who will be honest with you, but kind, when you get have discussions on whether to keep an item or not.”??
