You think you don't like this... but you do

Last summer, I was talking to my sister Fanny about the couple of apartments she owns and rents out.
It gives her quite a bit of work to manage these properties.
Things like reviewing tenant applications.
Dealing with repairs.
Or interacting – or, more accurately, negotiating – with the homeowners' association.
All of this is keeping her quite busy, even if she doesn't really have time for this, just like all of us.???
But the apartments bring her a steady stream of revenue each month.
And she definitely likes the added dollars they bring in – who wouldn't!
She even did some modification work in her home to rent out part of it.
And btw – she managed that last part pretty well so far.
Because somehow, her current tenant is hardly ever there.
Anyways, that evening we talked about how she got started.
She didn't wake up just one day and decided to get into the property.
Fanny got started because…
… our other sister Johanne was already doing it.
And Johanne got started because…
… our father was already doing it.
(and also because when she turned 30 Johanne was the only one of us not yet married, and she bought an apartment to "compensate")??
By now, Johanne owns and manages over 20 rental apartment units as a side activity (crazy, I know!).
Fanny had a first-row seat to see what Johanne was doing...
... and how she was doing it.
Fanny could learn from Johanne.
And Johanne and my dad were there to "coach" her as she got started.
That's why this whole "buying-apartments-and-renting-them-out" activity felt approachable, doable, and not that scary.

It also felt like a *normal* thing to do.
Anyways, it's moments like these when I realize:
Your entourage is everything.
When you only hang out with people who don't invest a dime (in property, the stock market, or anything else)…
When you only hang out with people who spend everything they get…
When you only hang out with people who don't bother optimizing their finances…
When you only hang out with people who go completely blind and never start to plan for their financial future…
… then it doesn't feel natural to start planning and investing to beat inflation and grow your savings over time.
That's why you might think that you don't like these things.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
If you decide to interact with others who care about this stuff…
… and let our knowledge and motivation rub on you...???
You'll find that you might actually start to enjoy saving & investing.
That's why the next time we have a spot for you in the Invest at REST program…
… then make sure you join us to completely and positively change how you handle your finances.
In the meantime, here is where you can get on the?waiting list.
