Are you surrounded by idiots who won't listen to feedback?

Some of the leaders I work with get frustrated that their feedback does not resonate, that it simply doesn’t shift the needle.

Dare I say it, they feel like they’re dealing with idiots and their feedback falls on deaf ears or leads to defensive reactions.

I get it: constructive feedback, can be challenging.

My clients often feel their messages aren't getting through or are received negatively.

The biggest alarm bell for me is when my clients say “I don’t know how many times I have to tell them…..” So I know, the problem isn’t just the act of giving feedback.

The problem is a either a lack of confidence or skill in delivering it effectively.

This just ends up with misunderstandings and things not progressing.

The biggest trap I see is leaders being vague in their feedback, or falling back on their favourite words, sayings or style of communication, rather than applying adaptive leadership.

They are typically vague and not addressing the core issues.

Some, just avoid giving feedback altogether!

One of my clients, a mid-level manager, felt frustrated because her feedback sessions with her team were unproductive. She noticed that her attempts to be constructive often led to defensive reactions, making her reluctant to address critical issues.

I guided her through a process of refining her feedback approach.

We zeroed-in on clarity and empathy.

More importantly we found techniques to spotlight actionable insights. We worked together on specific tricks that can influence the team member to take ownership, feel in control, encourage reflective dialogue AND prevent defensive responses.

Feedback sessions became opportunities for growth rather than causing tensions.

Subtle shifts in language or approach can create a significantly different result.

If you’re wanting empowered relationship rather than draining ones, it’s easier than you think.

I've helped numerous leaders, like her, develop the skills to give feedback that drives positive change. Through one-on-one coaching and tailored strategies, I've seen them turn challenging conversations into opportunities.? ?
