You are a sum of all your choices
2001, just more than 2 years into my first job, I took the decision to switch company.
It was one of most difficult emotional event for me. On one hand, I was feeling elated that I cleared the job interview but on other hand I started having doubt about my choice when I broke the news to my family and friends.
I had a perfectly stable job and I seemed happy. I could think of absolutely no reason to explain people around me, why I did not want to continue with my current job.
It’s difficult to describe to anyone but it seems I wanted to bring back excitement in my life. And I am glad that I took the unconventional step. It made me believe more in myself, take challenges head on and take control of situations.
Now, people ask me for advice, when deep down they already know that they have all the answers. Whether it is changing job or starting something of your own, following your own instinct will not let you down.
Seeking a ready made advice or approval from others will only confuse you.
In Keenheads, I interview many candidates every month. My questions in interview have changed compared to when I was in job.
Now I try to understand “What are they looking for in a company?”. And then we ask ourselves, “Would Keenheads be able to provide this and keep the spark alive in this person?”.
We believe for a person to truly respect their work is possible only when they are excited about what they are doing every day.
Such questions help us explain the candidate if we are the right company for them to choose. Because, the choices they make now will define them forever.
