The natural trap that every seller faces after some level of success in sales is called the B-Player trap. We have had a great year or two, and we get comfortable with the product, the clients and how to beat the competitors. Then something changes, and we are not getting the same results, and we start to rationalize the reason. The trap becomes more profound as we continue to blame and explain this to ourselves. We become more and more comfortable in pointing the blame at anything and everything until we are blinded from seeing what we have to do to correct the situation and win more deals.
