As a woman manager, are you striving for perfection in your work?


I admit, this is ingrained in me. ?


I agonize over the details.

I feel overwhelmed by the pressure to be flawless.

We often do this at the expense of our own well-being and effectiveness as leaders.

Perfectionism is a double-edged sword.?

?

It drives you to achieve high standards and excel in your role,

?

BUT it can also lead to burnout, anxiety, and a lack of work-life balance.

When I find myself in the grasp of perfectionist thinking, here are a few tips that help: ?


1. Define perfection.?

Often the bar of perfection keeps changing and you lose sight of what perfection even means.? Once it is defined, use it as something to strive for, not as a reason to criticize yourself, if not attained.????


2. Embrace imperfection.

Recognize that mistakes are part of being human. Don't interpret mistakes as something being "wrong" with you.?


3. Practice self-compassion.

Be kind to yourself and give yourself grace when things don't result in what you expected.? Treat yourself with the same understanding that you would offer to a friend facing the same situation.?


4. Trust your team.

You don't have to do everything yourself.? Empowering your team to take on responsibilities can lighten your load and foster a more collaborative work environment.?


5. Focus on progress, not perfection.

Shift your mindset from perfection to progress.?? Instead of aiming for a perfect result, focus on continuous improvement and learning from challenges.

Remember, being a great leader isn't about being perfect.

?

Great leadership comes from leading with authenticity, empathy, and resilience.?

?

When you let go of perfectionism and embrace your strengths and vulnerabilities, you can become a more effective and fulfilled leader.
