Are you a STAR?

Are you a STAR?

STARs are clear on their Values.

  • Your core values identify your areas of passion. These are the fundamentals of what you believe. They are partially derived from your faith & heritage and partially from your life experiences.
  • Your core values must be consistent with an organization you join, if you wish to stay there, and if you wish to advance into more senior roles in that organization.

STARs Know Their Strengths & Talents

  • A strength or talent is a pattern of behavior, thoughts and feelings that produces a high degree of satisfaction and pride; generates both physical and/or financial reward; and presents measurable progress toward excellence.
  • Basically, these are the things you do well!
  • A STAR will find out what she does well, and look for ways to do more.

STARs have true motivation

  • True motivation comes from an internal locus of control. You believe in yourself, you take responsibility for your course and your decisions, and you own your successes and failures.
  • High performers decide they are GREAT at something, that they CAN figure out a way to achieve their goals and they have a passion for what they do.
  • Achievement happens when you believe you can do it, you overcome your obstacles, you learn from trials or failures and you find solutions.

Knowing yourself leads to planning an effective career move. Hungry for more? A fully updated 2016 version of the STAR Career Workbook is available on Amazon in print and Kindle formats. https://buff.ly/2dV9Nmb
