You Are So Much More Than the R?les You Play
If there’s one question that stubbornly comes back to challenge our views throughout the course of our lives , it has to be the issue of who we really are. Yes. We’re referring to the deepest question we can possibly consider, the riddle of our true identify, the mystery of the true self. Have you reached the point of self-knowledge where your real identity shines through the layers of conditioned behaviour?
It’s been a recurrent theme throughout human history and a favourite topic for poets, mystics, philosophers and playwrights. Whatever our cultures and traditions might dictate, the question is remarkably persistent. Perhaps it’s because we feel a deep longing to know the answer. We’ve always been aware that we are bound by the r?les we play and that our lives are very much defined by the masks of our personalities. That same awareness reminds us that there might be more to be explored beneath the layers of conditioned behaviours that we accept so easily as the definition of who we are.
When you begin the journey of unravelling the complex web of interwoven personalities that you accept as the definition of who you are, you might feel a little disconcerted. Anything that challenges our sense of identity is bound to present us with a range of uncomfortable reactions. If our identity proves to be a purely temporary and artificial construction, what remains? The ego feels deeply threatened by these unsettling disruptions. The best way to recapture our attention and bring our thoughts back into line is for the ego to scare us. The fear of losing ourselves can be deeply disturbing. The dread that we might cease to be recognised as the unique individuals we so desperately want to be can freeze us from taking further action. But the deeper sense of self is gently persistent and wonderfully patient. By learning to calm our thoughts and relinquish the habits of fear, doubt and anxiety, we touch a profound state of awareness, an inner silence where the stillness touches the infinite. This is where the deeper self is revealed.

The ancient teachings described the revelation of the true self as the gateway to indescribable bliss. Untouched by the transient feelings generated by our mental and emotional energy, we discover a state of consciousness that exists outside of the confines of time and space. It’s a powerful way of understanding everything you’re experiencing. It’s a shimmering encounter with the underlying fabric of reality. It’s a beautifully natural way to free your perception from everything that is purely temporary. It’s a way for you to be completely who you really are.
