YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE ??

I seem to be using this expression a lot recently when explaining the current market and the need to take advantage of price and availability without delay.

25% more people than usual booked their summer holiday back in January - this has resulted in much less availability than usual at this time of year for hotel rooms on the beaches of Europe during peak holiday season. When availability is limited for hotel rooms and plane seats, the prices go up and up.

If you leave it too late, you will only have a choice of whatever is left on the shelf and you won't be able to justify the fact that your hotel was awful on the basis that you paid peanuts for it because you won't. Demand is higher than ever before and people are paying good money for rooms in grubby, noisy, and poor quality accommodation in terrible locations whilst being misled by old photos and reviews from back when the hotel was nice and new. Last minute deals are a thing of the past no matter what those cheap holiday websites are showing you – you get what you pay for!

The longer you leave it to book your holiday, the bigger the gap gets between the price you pay and the quality of what you pay for. The value you get for your money gets less and less the longer you leave it.

You need to be savvy to avoid throwing money down the drain and to make sure you get the holiday you deserve and enjoy the very small amount of downtime you get for your hard earned cash.

Here are my top 5 tips for booking your 2023 holiday of you haven't already...

?USE A TRUSTED TRAVEL AGENT

I’m not just saying this because I am one, I am saying it to save you hours of your time searching for holidays where you can’t be sure if the photos and reviews are genuine, only to end up with a substandard and overpriced holiday with no personal service or someone on the end of the phone to support you if and when you need them.

With prices as high as they are this year for last minute bookings, there are a number of compromises that can be made to reduce costs such as flying from alternative airports, flying at unsociable hours, looking at alternative durations, splitting your time between two different hotels, or being flexible with dates.

?THINK AHEAD
