Are you a smart phone Jimmy?
As I’m taking a few days off, taking time to reflect and reenergise, I’m finding time to read a little more.
I find reading a book so much more relaxing than reading on my phone. For some reason, reading from an electronic device, whether it be, smart phone, PC or tablet, doesn’t relax me, in fact quite the opposite. Maybe I should listen to my inner self on this one a little more and stop using my smart device so much; Maybe it’s because it’s convenient so I tend to reach for the phone first.
Actually, thinking about I don’t find reading on my phone relaxing because of social media. Generally its filled with lots of real world problems which people tend to share more of. The rants seems to be airing more on the negative side (maybe a little like this post).
Anyhow, as I’m currently reading this book, which by the way is brilliant, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** and I thoroughly recommend it, if you’ve not read it. I’m finding many passages, where it’s like I know exactly what the author is talking about and scarcely, it sounds like me, ( I suppose, that’s why I think it’s such a good book). But I’m guessing, many others think the same as me too.
Sorry, I digressed again, where was I, oh yes. I wanted to share this passage with you as it resonated with me so much. So I have two questions...
( I have a few friends called Jimmy, and know of a few others, so this is in no way a reflection on them they are solid stand up people and successful in their own right - people such as my good friend Jimmy Naraine , fast bowler Jimmy Anderson, Jimmy Hendrix and 'see you' Jimmy, from Scotland)
1. Do you find reading a book more relaxing than reading on smart device? If you do why, conversely, if you don’t then I’d like to know why too?
2. Do you know a character like Jimmy ?
Please do let me know your thoughts...
Have an awesome bank holiday ????

6 年Interesting post. I prefer reading from a book as oppose to a mobile device as it’s a “break away” from what I’ve been doing most of the day- looking at my mobile! Reading from a book makes me feel as if I am giving myself that all important “me” time. When reading from a mobile device I cant concentrate with all the distractions and alerts from messages, social media etc . Those are my thoughts
