So, you've heard it a million times: "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day", right??
What's not being said enough though is, skipping breakfast can actually hamper your weight loss journey.
So, here's the deal: You’ve spent a full night's sleep (hopefully!) without eating.?
Come morning, your body is basically running on fumes. It needs some fuel to get things started again.?
So, when you skip breakfast, it's like trying to start your car with an empty fuel tank.
Now, some people think skipping breakfast is a great way to cut calories.
But guess what- it can actually lead to weight gain. I know it sounds crazy, but let me explain.
University of Bath researchers recently figured out that when you eat breakfast, your body gets a jump start on burning carbs and fats.?
Skip breakfast, and your body goes into power-saving mode, hoarding those fats instead of burning them off. Not what we want at all!
Plus, when you wake up in the morning, your body’s blood sugar levels are generally low. Breakfast helps top it back up. Without it, you might end up with an insulin response that encourages fat storage and weight gain – again, the opposite of what we want.
The reality is, skipping breakfast makes us hungry, even if it’s later on, leading to unchecked snacking or overeating at Dinner time.
In terms of overall health, making a habit of skipping breakfast has been linked to higher risks of type 2 diabetes and heart disease, messed up mood swings, problems focusing and lower energy. Not a good recipe for the busy Dad.
Now, I hear you. Mornings can be rushed, whether you’re heading off to travel, getting yourself ready for work or even if ‘you don’t feel like it’, Breakfast can easily take a backseat.?
But remember Breakfast should not take more than 15 minutes to prepare and consume.
