Are You a Settler?

Here is my question for you today:

Are you a Settler?

No, I do not mean someone who moves into an area that is virtually uninhabited. I mean are you someone who "Settles For" things in life?

I have seen and heard of too many examples in my life to mention them all here, so I will just give you a few.

I have known many salespeople who have hit their target (goal, quota) for the month or quarter early. Virtually all of them would then proceed to coast the rest of the way. As a result, they would "settle for" the minimum sales required to keep their job.

I wonder what would have happened if they put some blinders on and kept working? They most likely would have closed even more business, and would have made more money. They might have even set a new record for the company. They could have separated themselves from the rest of the sales team - possibly so much that they would have been promoted, or have received some additional bonus.

My wife has a friend who is married to a man who treats her very poorly. When my wife asked her why she married him, she said, "Because he is the one who asked." How sad. She obviously "settled for" this poor excuse of a husband.

I have known many friends throughout my life who have had bland, tepid relationships with God. They go to church, sit in the back, and go home. They want to look good to others. (After all, "what will people think if I don't go to church?") They "settle for" a casual-at-best Faith, when God has so much more to offer them!

Are you Settling For something? If so, in what area(s)? I know that I have settled for things in my life in the past. Do you know what I learned?

It is not worth it.

Why in the world would you want to go through life halfway engaged? Why would you decide to be lukewarm in any area of your life, when you can DECIDE to live life to the max?

Start today to examine every area of your life: Faith, Relationships, Character, Money, Career and Health. Determine where you are settling for mediocre. Then, make a plan and start taking action to move from mediocre to excellent.

You will be glad that you did!
