As a regular contributor for The Peconic Bay Shopper, I was delighted to find a free copy of The Peconic Bay Shopper dated AUGUST 2023 at the Country Corner Luncheonette. Within the Calendar of Events on page 19 is discussion of seaweed.

Learn about the basic biology and ecology of seaweeds and historic human uses of seaweeds and the current development of the seaweed aquaculture industry on Long Island. Presenter Stephen Schott, who was raised in East Marion, is Marine Botany/Habitat Restoration Educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County’s Marine Program. He h olds a B.S. in Botany and M.S. in Biology from the University of Rhode Island focusing on marine plants and seaweeds. He works on seagrass restoration and monitoring, shoreline and tidal marsh restoration, and seaweed aquaculture."
