You are not a scientist!

Neil eGrasse Tyson once remarked, “the good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it.” But what many perceive as science is often far from it.
Here are a few "Sciences" I have encountered:
A friend-told-me Science
Just because someone speaks with confidence doesn't mean they're right. Speaking with authority on a subject you're not qualified in doesn't make you a scientist.
I read-it-on-Facebook Science
Memes and social media posts aren't peer-reviewed journals. Relying on them for scientific knowledge doesn't make you a scientist.
The I’m-not-listening Science
Ignoring credible sources because they challenge your beliefs? That's not science. Refusing to listen to evidence doesn't make you a scientist.
It happened-to-me Science
Anecdotal evidence isn't the same as scientific research. Just because something happened to someone you know doesn't mean it's scientifically proven.
The Media of Science
Headlines can be misleading. Just because a news outlet reports on a study doesn't mean they've interpreted it correctly. Reading headlines without understanding the research doesn't make you a scientist.
The Government of Science
Politics and science are two different realms. Just because a political figure says something doesn't mean it's scientifically accurate.
The Politics of Science
Dr. Anthony Fauci faced political backlash for speaking scientific truths. Aligning with political attacks without understanding the science doesn't make you a scientist.
Science is just a theory
Misunderstanding the term "scientific theory" is a common mistake. A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation, not just a guess.
Science is just a hypothesis
This is another misconception. A hypothesis is a proposed explanation, but it's not confirmed science.
The Actual Science
Science is a rigorous process of observation, experimentation, and validation. It's not about beliefs or opinions; it's about evidence.
In Conclusion
Before you claim to understand science, ensure you're basing your knowledge on credible sources and not just hearsay or personal beliefs. Remember, just because you have an opinion on science doesn't make you a scientist.
