"You Say Goodbye and I Say Hello"

The Beatles said it best (as is often the case).  As we get closer to the ball dropping in NYC, I decided to take a look back and a look forward.  I am inviting all my LinkedIn connections to do the same.  Please leave a comment with your answers to these questions.

1. What’s the best thing that happened to you professionally in 2016?
   1. For me, I decided to get back into banking. I took a few years “off” to help some friends with their business and to sell real estate. I had a great time doing both of these, but I am happy to be back doing my calling.
2. What’s the best thing that happened to you personally in 2016?
   1. After 5 years of dating, I finally got wise and married the woman of my dreams.
3. What are some achievable professional goals for you in 2017?
   1. I am going to narrow down my circle of influence. I noticed I have more than 500 connections on LinkedIn, but I know that if I truly look into those connections, I will find a percentage of those connections with whom I am truly connected. There are a lot of networking groups out there where you pay money to share referrals. I think that if I hone in on my true connections, friendships and relationships within LinkedIn, I will be able to create my own networking group. This is something we all already do, but I am planning to make it a bit more formalized.
4. What are some achievable personal goals in 2017?
   1. Like millions of Americans, I am going back to the gym. I am not setting any unrealistic weight loss goals. Rather, my goal is to be consistent in going at least 3 – 4 times every week.
5. What are you most looking forward to in 2017?
   1. We are building a home in a small neighborhood where friends and family are also building. While I am not looking forward to the actual move; the anticipation and everything associated with building a new home is very exciting!
