Are You Running the Wrong Race? Here’s How to Know
This week, I was reminded of a powerful verse from Hebrews 12:1-2:
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up, and let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne."
This verse not only inspired me but also tied into my reading of Jerry Howard’s book, Faith Driven Leadership—which, by the way, is also the name of our upcoming workshop!
I recorded a short video discussing three key questions that can help you align your life with God’s purpose.

Three Key Questions on Faith-Driven Leadership
1. Are You Running the Race God Set Before You?
God has a specific race for you—not the one set by society, parents, or culture. If you constantly feel out of place, ask yourself: Whose race are you running?
If something doesn’t feel right, it might be because you are forcing yourself into a path that was never meant for you.
2. How Do You Get on the Right Path?
Think of Michelangelo’s famous quote about sculpting David:
"The statue was always in there; I just chipped away everything that wasn’t David."
Your true, God-given identity has always been there—you just need to strip away the distractions, habits, and expectations that aren’t authentically you.
What have you accumulated over the years that isn’t truly you?
3. Are You Focused on Your Goals or God’s Goals?
I recently wrote this in my planner:
“Be excited about living into what God wants to produce out of me, not what I want to produce.”
Are you focusing on your ambitions, or are you seeking His purpose for you?
Final Thoughts
To recap:
I’d love to hear your thoughts! What’s muddying up your path and keeping you from being who God created you to be?
Hit reply and let me know.
Until then, be blessed!
