“Don’t follow trends, they are created”
So you clicked on this link, may be because you were curious to know more or may be you had no idea of what is it about and wanted to experience my writing skills (just kidding).
I am glad you came because not many people want to read such articles provided the subject is clear, so I kept it little ambiguous deliberately.
So this article revolves around the picture below:
A question.
Do you need these many clothes in your wardrobe?
Do you need three cars in your garage?
Should you have latest iPhone as your shimmering liability?
Many people quit here, if you have courage you can read ahead?:-)
Theoretically,?this post is based on the two concepts, spirituality and materialism. We as humans lie anywhere between these two extremes.
There are monks who don’t want anything fancy in life, have very basic clothes, simple food and enough ceiling.
Then comes people who get their new iphone the very first day, always wear Nike, watch first day first show, Gucci, Rolex, Netflix, Adidas and the list goes on.
We all lie somewhere on this same pendulum.
Humans are always dissatisfied and that is the only thing that keep us on toes. We have evolved from walking Kilometres in Sun to booking Uber sitting in Air-conditioned rooms.

Lets go to other side of the story.
Are we happy? Are we really spending time with people? Are we not constantly checking our phones out of insecurity? Are we not anxious that someone else’s life (on instagram) is way more interesting?
What are we running after?
When I started working i thought X amount is enough to live happily,
Now i have way more than X, but I feel some more should be of no harm.
And we keep on running behind better paychecks, promotions, promising roles, expanding businesses and all.
But why are we doing this?
The only important thing is quality of life, family, friends, health and our contribution to society.
What we do is
Instead we are causing a lot of carbon footprint, getting obese, eating wrong and simply trying to prove other people that we are happy, we have a lot, new iphone, branded clothes, abroad holiday trips etc etc etc.
I remember when i was out for snorkeling with my wife, I wanted to shoot it but she said lets just enjoy the experience. We enjoyed it very much rather than worrying if shots were great, how am I looking etc.
This is the point i am trying to make.
We are all part of a big trap and becoming restless (may be you are reading this sleeping, sitting on a train, watching something, but not enjoying what you are already doing, thats trap.)
As per Nokia average person checks his phone 150 times a day.
Why?
You can answer it for yourself.
What should we do?
Nothing!!!
Just stay focused, stop getting lured by the greeds, enjoy things around you, value relationships.
You will never get enough of what you don’t really need?in?life.
Confusing???
(You have a lot of cups at home, still you will always want to buy new ones, trendy, new colors etc, similarly for clothes, shoes etc)
It drills down to how you take things.
Avoid materialistic things when you are with people, Simple.
Stop running on never stopping treadmill, instead go for a nature walk and see there’s a lot to focus on than things brands want you to.
Suddenly you will find you are living to fullest, more happy and you have time to do things.
Else same miserable life where you don’t have time to talk to people because you are busy listening music while browsing instagram feed.
And then people say they don’t have time ??.??
Some eye openers
This is all a trap that Marketing experts have layed down for us and we fall prey to these.
Be more aware when you shop, do you really need these many things?
Start breaking stereotypes of having bigger car, huge house and premium branded clothes. Instead buy what you really need.
When you truly need, get a good quality product.
What you don’t need, don’t buy it at all.
You just need a realisation at the time of making buying decision. Trust me you will come happy out of store and you will be able to use that money wisely and on important things.
Moreover you will be happy with less stuff, you will have less decisions to make when getting ready for office, less clothes to wash or iron.
Spend on good food?(you?can?opt?for?organic?or?vegan?food?options), holiday trips, good quality clothes, books, sports gears, healthy routines etc.
The article got lengthy but the stuff to cover is insane. I still missed a lot of things.
